Philip Bußmann ist Videokünstler und gestaltet seit 1995 das Bühnenvideo für internationale Tanz- und Theaterproduktionen. In den letzten Jahren arbeitet er zudem vermehrt an eigenen Installations- und Filmprojekten. Außerdem entwickelt er Video-Software für MacOS X.

Nach seinem Studium des Bühnen- und Kostümbilds bei Professor Jürgen Rose an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart zog er nach New York. Dort war er acht Jahre als Video- und Grafikdesigner für die international renommierte Wooster Group tätig, die für ihre medialen Inszenierungen des Performance-Theaters unter der Leitung von Elizabeth LeCompte bekannt ist.
In Deutschland entstanden unter anderem Arbeiten am Deutschen Schauspielhaus Hamburg, dem Schauspielhaus Bochum, für die Ruhrtriennale, mit Wanda Golonka am Schauspiel Frankfurt, mit Sasha Waltz und Luk Perceval an der Schaubühne Berlin und den Münchner Kammerspielen, sowie mehrere Projekte mit William Forsythe für das Ballett Frankfurt und die Forsythe Company.
Philip Bußmann ist Mitbegründer von 2+, einem Kollektiv zwischen ihm, dem Tänzer und Choreograph Christopher Roman und der Dramaturgin Célestine Hennermann. Er ist Atelierstipendiat des Kulturamts der Stadt Frankfurt im Atelierhaus auf der Hanauer Landstraße.
Zurzeit lebt Philip Bußmann in Frankfurt am Main.
After studying set and costume design with Professor Jürgen Rose at Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts he moved to New York City. There he worked for eight years as video and graphic designer for the internationally renowed Wooster Group, which is known for its media theater performances under the direction of Elizabeth LeCompte.
In Germany he worked on productions at Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, at Schauspielhaus Bochum, for the Ruhrtriennale and with Wanda Golonka at Schauspiel Frankfurt, with Sasha Waltz and Luk Perceval at Schaubühne Berlin and the Munich Kammerspielen, as well as on numerous projects with William Forsythe for Ballet Frankfurt and The Forsythe Company.
Philip Bussmann is a founding member of 2+, a collective between him, dancer and choreographer Christopher Roman, and dramaturg Célestine Hennermann. He is a recipient of the stipend studio program of the city of Frankfurt.
Philip Bussmann currently lives in Frankfurt am Main.
